Nunavut and NWT are two territories loaded
with interesting things to do and people to meet. There
is no other place like it in the world! Main tourist
entry points in the North are Yellowknife, Cambridge
Bay, Rankin Inlet and Iqaluit. People traveling from
southern Canada fly up from Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto,
Ottawa or Montreal. Co-ops are an essential part of
the tourism industry as they provide services such as
hotels, taxi service, art/crafts sales and groceries.
Some Co-ops have expanded to provide outfitting services
and kayaking adventures. When visiting communities in
the North, it is important to remember that when you
shop at the Co-op, or stay in a Co-op hotel, you are
supporting the members of that community with your patronage.
